3 September 2003  Time: Day

Fished the Back Beach near Castlegregory (Kerry) for 3 consecutive days, all sessions begining at 6.15am. Caught 7 bass, mainly betwen 2.5-4lbs, with one beauty of 6lb 2oz. Bait was frozen sandeel. If you are going to fish here you will need chest waders (it's a surf beach, and difficult to fish from the shore).

15 July 2003 Time: Day

Started @ 7am, spinning from the pier with mackerel feathers, nothing for 45 mins, but millions of sandeels swimming around the pier. From 7.30am mackerel started boiling on the surface, pulled in 30+ mackerel inside an hour. Got so bored with the feathers (3 fish at a time), switched to a light spinning rod and spinner and got some good scraps. Packed up @ 9.00am for fry up, shoal returned as I was leaving, spoke to a bloke the next day and he said he caught 50+ mackerel.

20  April 2003 Time:Day

Fished 3/4 hours of the incoming tide, near the Moy estuary.  Had good bait, sandeel, mackeral and razor but only one fish in the session. A small plaice which took the sandeel.  Not a lot happening, but conditions were to calm with a slight easterly, which doesn't help.

17 August 2002 Time:Day

Fished the Moy Estuary on the coming tide on the Saturday and Sunday with mackerel they were giving away from the pier in Enniscrone the evening before (it's mackerel bashing season there at the moment). Plenty of bits, but mainly from crabs. Had to keep rebaiting every couple of minutes. Landed a couple of flounder and the odd dab.

Weather was lovely though and it was great to be there and relax.
